Choosing a good domain
Posted by lee - 27/09/08 at 01:09:05 amMany new website owners fall into common pitfalls when they look to purchase their domain. Here are some good rules when searching for a domain.
1. How many .info domains have you gone to? Not many if any. This means you should stick to common domain extensions, such as .com or .net.
2. rerootedwebsiteredesign.com may describe what we do, but it’s way to long. Additionally, a long domain will make mistypes more likely, so keep it short and sweet.
3. Make sure it’s memorable. Websites are great selling tools that can be used in passing. If you tell someone your domain name, you want to be sure that it will be memorable and easy for them to spell.
4. Using “4″ instead of “for” is never a good idea. Again, the less confusion the better.
These are some basic rules you can use when you search for your domain name. Our staff has been involved in the domain industry for many years. Should you need any help in finding the right domain for you, please contact us.
Website monetization, what it means for you.
Posted by lee - 17/09/08 at 12:09:01 amWebsite monetization is a confusing concept for many people looking to get a new website or redesign their current website. It is a common belief that monetizing a website has to do with creating a site containing content surrounded by advertisements. Although, it can be lucrative to do so, it is far from the only way to justify the cost of a website.
A website is a tool used to create some sort of conversion. In the case of eCommerce it is easy to measure the conversion, just take the number of orders received and divide it by the number unique visitors. Pretty simple, right? Wrong!
So, what about in the case of an accountant’s website?
In this case it is important to look at other factors for conversion information. One great way to determine conversion is to take the number of completed contact requests by the number of unique visitors. It’s possible to mine this information even further if you break this statistic up by the path the customer was directed there. This is extremely important information about the effectiveness of a website.
If your current website doesn’t contain this feature then how do you know what your sites effectiveness is? The simple answer is “you don’t.” We’ll not only install this feature for you, but we’ll monitor the stats for you and make recommendations based on the results.
